Uptime is the share of time your site is reachable and responding correctly. We monitor it so that outages are detected by a system rather than by a customer trying to reach you.
How monitoring works
Checks run from outside our network at regular intervals against your site. A check looks for a successful response, not merely a server that is switched on, so a site returning a database error is flagged as down even though the machine is running. Certificate expiry and domain expiry are also watched, because both take a site offline just as effectively as a server fault.
What triggers a response
A single failed check can be a network blip. Repeated failures raise an alert to our team. We then confirm the fault, identify the layer at issue and restore service. For anything more than a brief interruption, we open or update a ticket in the portal at crm.zylax.com.my so you have a written record of what happened.
Causes of downtime we see most
- Expired domain. The most common and the most avoidable.
- A plugin or theme update introducing a fatal error.
- Resource exhaustion, usually memory or PHP workers, when traffic outgrows the plan.
- A database that has run out of disk or hit a connection limit.
- Bot or scraper traffic hammering a heavy page.
Planned maintenance
Some downtime is deliberate. Stack upgrades and migrations are scheduled outside Malaysian business hours where possible and announced in advance. Planned windows are kept short and are not treated as incidents.
What you can do
Report anything you see even if you assume we already know. Your report may cover a fault type monitoring cannot detect, such as a page that loads but shows the wrong content. Include the exact URL and the time.
Reducing your exposure
Keep the domain renewed, keep plugins updated under a maintenance plan, and let us know before any marketing campaign that will produce a traffic spike so we can check headroom in advance.
