How to read a Zylax quotation

A Zylax quotation is the document that defines what you are buying, what it costs and what happens when. Reading it properly before accepting saves arguments later, because this document is what scope is measured against for the rest of the project.

The header

Reference number, issue date, expiry date and your company details as we hold them. Check the company name and registration number match your official documents, since these carry through to your invoices.

Scope and inclusions

The core of the document. It lists what is included, usually as a package plus itemised inclusions such as the number of pages, the features, the number of revision rounds, and any training. Read every line. What is not on this list is not in the project.

Add-ons

Optional items priced separately, such as copywriting, photography, extra languages or an additional integration. Some are shown as selected, some as available. Confirm which ones you actually want before accepting.

Exclusions and assumptions

Where present, these state what is deliberately not included and what the pricing assumes, such as you providing content or an existing hosting arrangement. These are as important as the inclusions.

Pricing

All figures are in MYR. The subtotal, any applicable tax shown separately, and the total. Recurring items such as hosting or licences are shown with their renewal frequency so you can see the ongoing cost alongside the one off cost.

Payment schedule

The deposit percentage stated on your quotation, the milestone payments and the final payment. Work begins after the deposit clears.

Timeline

Estimated duration in working days, based on the assumptions listed. It excludes time waiting on content or feedback from your side.

Validity

The expiry date. After it, pricing may need to be reconfirmed.

Before you accept

Compare the inclusions against what you asked for. If something you discussed on a call is missing from the document, it is missing from the project. Ask now, not later.
