Yes, subject to the normal position on licensed third party components and to your project being paid for in full. Here is the detail, because "who owns the website" is worth being precise about.
What is yours
- Your content. All text, images, video, product data and customer records. Yours before, during and after the project.
- Your domain. Registered in your company name with your company as legal registrant. We may manage it technically, but you own it.
- Custom code written for your project. Bespoke templates, custom functionality and configuration built specifically for you transfer to you on full payment.
- Your database. Everything in it.
What is licensed rather than owned
Almost every modern website includes components you licence rather than own outright:
- The underlying platform, such as WordPress, which is open source and free to use.
- Premium themes and plugins, which carry their own licences, usually annual and tied to a site or a domain.
- Stock photography, licensed for defined uses.
- Fonts, which have their own licensing terms for web use.
These are normal and universal. What matters is that the licences are registered to you where possible, so they remain valid if you ever move providers. We will tell you which components carry licences and what they cost annually.
Portability
You can take your site elsewhere. On request we provide a full file archive, a database export and your DNS records, as described in our hosting exit article. We do not build sites in a way that traps you.
Portfolio use
We normally like to show completed work in our portfolio. If your project is confidential, say so and we will keep it off.
